Iran probably accidentally shot down a Ukrainian Boeing 737 passenger plane by UIA with two Russian- made missiles , and not one, as previously reported.
Such an assumption was made by CNN with reference to US officials. The theory is based on the analysis of satellite data, radar and electronic data, which are regularly collected by the military and US intelligence.
The Americans believe that the plane hit completely by accident. And a U.S. spokesman involved in intelligence said the plane was shot down by two Russian SA-15 missiles.

Ukrainian plane in Iran shot down by two Russian missiles - CNN
It is noteworthy that the version of the likely destruction of the Ukrainian liner by a rocket was supported immediately by several foreign leaders - Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson. US President Donald Trump also doubted that the UIA plane crashed due to a technical malfunction.
The leader of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky paused for more than 12 hours and only in the morning of January 10 he carefully commented on the resonant information. He said that the version about a missile getting into an UIA plane that crashed in Iran is not ruled out, but is not yet confirmed.

What the president said:

"We expect that they will be provided with all the information and all the access necessary to conduct an objective investigation. We are in constant contact with our representatives. The version of a missile getting into an airplane is not excluded, but is not confirmed today. Considering the latest statements by the leaders states in the media, we urge all international partners - especially the governments of the United States, Canada and the UK - to provide data and evidence regarding the disaster to the Commission of Inquiry n ", - Zelensky emphasized.
Ukrainians were massively indignant both because of such confusion in the Office of the President of Ukraine, and after Zelensky’s reaction. Some believe that the president did not possess the latest information and did not know how to react correctly. Others are convinced that Zelensky does not want to spoil relations with Iran in advance, accusing him of a crime.
Note that the Iranian authorities categorically deny that the UIA plane could have been accidentally shot down by a Russian-made rocket.
